Races
The Isle is home to more than just the Skaran race, others also claim the isle as their home. Some are little more than rumour or legend, but who knows exactly what is out there, hidden from known lands?
THE SKARA. [Skar-a]
The Skara are a race of humans who fled the fall of the great empire. They have claimed the isle of their own, despite the fact that most of it is still, even after a thousand years unexplored and untamed. They range between roughly five and six foot in height and are generally fair skinned. They are a universally religious people devoted to the worship of the Seven and convinced on their place in the God's great plans.
THE ORCAD. [Orc-ad]
Some believe this race is descended from heretic Skara fleeing from the Brethren Wars. If this is the case, they have changed from their cousins a lot. They have more height differences than the Skara, ranging between four and seven feet tall, they have dark slate coloured skin, lank hair that ranges between white, red through to a purple like black, they also have bestial half tusks and sharp fangs. They have settlements in the northern mountains and on the dangerous northern coast, but they can be found as mercenaries all over the isle.
THE KHUZD [Kuz-ud]
This race is unique in that they are not inhabitants of the isle. These traders arrived on the southern edge of the Isle recently, somehow claiming to have traversed the impassable Sea of Storms. They refuse to get drawn on to many questions about themselves, but they have become good traders with some of the southern Lords, trading wood and furs for steel of a quality unknown to the Skara. They are shorter than the Skaran people, around four to five foot in height, with slate grey skin and no body hair. They wear armour made of thick plates of metal and are never found alone.
THE SKRATTA [Sk-ra-ta]
This indigenous race is considered little more than Semi-Intelligent vermin by some, they are fast breeders and can be found all over the isle, despite some attempts at wiping them out. They are short (about three foot high at the most), and their skin ranges between dun and brown, they have no body hair, and are often naked or wearing basic rags. They are rarely found alone. They often form raiding parties attacking isolated locations for shiny things to steal or food to eat.
THE MELIAI [MEL-E-I]
Some consider this race little more than legend, others now claim they are extinct. Guardians of certain forests across the isle, it is said they greeted the coming Skaran people and made some allegiances with them to protect some of their more sacred places. Some of those agreements are still in place, and some woodlands still remain off limits by ancient laws. They are rumoured to be incredibly beautiful, graceful and deadly when threatened. They are also rumoured to be in possession of strange magic unknown to the Skara.
THE UERCO [ur-co]
The Uerco are considered little more than a children's fable by most on the isle. These rock skinned giants are told of in tales, normally as they ally themselves with ancient Lords of the northern domains. They are known for their fierce loyalty and their incredible feats of strength. They are said to be at least eight to ten feet tall. and are said to be keen loners.
