Okay, so it was a bit of a longer update than I had planned, but real life happens, and again it happened all over my blog...
First there has been a few upsets in both my immediate and extended family that have taken time away from my writing. Secondly, and far more personal a new opportunity at a job role has also created less time, and less headspace to write more things for gaming. As much as I like gaming it is still just my hobby, and when something had to give it was that.
Thankfully this did not mean I had to give up playing our games. I can still state that our Sunday Pathfinder game is one of the best I've ever played, and we are getting closer to fouling up the plans of the Runelords. We've had a few character deaths, but the core of the party has both that wonderful synergy that comes from prolonged play, everyone knowing everyone's role, but also that great interpersonal drama and story.
In addition I am doubly blessed this year by being able to find a little time to escape to a boat with some other friends for a whole week of gaming. We literally do a different RPG every day, board and card games at the rest of the time. On top of that we have some very talented people making us nice food, and supplying us with good ale. A cheap holiday that is perfect for me. The fact it is with friends I see less often than I would like also makes it special.
It was also a chance to break out some of the one shots I had made for my day of running. Given that the people I ended up with on my table had a new player and some big fans of action, I have ended up running the Gears of War : Lambda Squad game using the Savage Worlds rules so far.
Again the guys found it very simple to play, quick combats and big fights, and a brutally fought ending. Given the nature of the scene design I found it easy to trim the fat a little when I thought we would over run, and ended up finishing the game only a little over my slot.
I know I still have a few files for this one to complete, and I hopefully will when I get home and things slowly return to a little more normality, but for now, I'm on a boat mf's, and I have games to play...
